The first planting took place in 2016 on the eastern slope of the Steenberg. In 2020 the estate bought a further 22ha at Oudsbergen, with plans to plant five more in 2023 to reach 50ha in a few years’ time. A new ultra-modern winery will soon be built alongside the Breekiezel: “We want to create a real Belgian wine experience centre,” says Ilse Swennen, “where there is room for everyone who loves wine and food. We’re going to go very far and try to think outside the box.” The wines are produced in collaboration with Maxim Geunis.
