Viticulture is the passion of Dr Ghislain Houben, professor of applied economics at the university. He started planting his first vines in 2002 on family land. His son Jeroen joined him and started his own winery, Jerom’s Winery. His wines are sold at Carrefour. His diversity of grape varieties has led Ghislain to experiment with different blends aged in oak barrels, cherry barrels, granite barrels or… in pots, above ground. See also Helshoven and Jerom Winery.
